While serving the Atlanta Georgia community for the past twenty years, Deanna Lawrence has strived to shed additional comfort, and light, to the words Hospice and Palliative Care. Change is hard. Unwanted and unexpected life changes are even more difficult to process. At times, we need support to navigate these moments for additional understanding, healing, quality of life and self care.
I value the journey I’ve witnessed. I am grateful for the extensive hands on experience I’ve had navigating hospice. I started as a volunteer and CNA/CMA(AAMA) in 2000. For the last eighteen years, I’ve served with a local Atlanta hospice, in the field and development training of certified hospice and palliative nursing assistance, hospice referral and intake coordinator, bereavement coordinator and hospice chaplain. Presently, I serve as chaplain in the palliative care and end of life community. As an End of Life Doula, or Death Doula, I tap into sources through prayer, guided meditation, reiki energy, and sound/aroma therapies to promote a healthy and healing environment at end of life. I have found that chaplaincy, and life coaching, allow for a deeper connection while navigating anticipatory grief and continued family bereavement support. It helps those facing or living with rehabilitation, end of life decisions or terminal illness. My passion for this work shows my true calling. I am often asked to speak, teach, and/or write about my speciality. Nothing gives me greater comfort than sitting with a family to create sustainable solutions for their loved one and the family as a whole.

*REMINDER:
Grief is not only present or exclusive in a physical death.
Grief is also about loss, and loss can show up in many different forms in our walk of life.
Grief is always as unique as the individual who experiences a loss or death of a loved one.
